2 years and 5 months

Mama's birthday
Rachi turned 2 years and 5 months on 5th February 2012. During this period she has been able to do a lot of new things and surprised us. In her waking hours she spent her time drawing circles, a girl, straight lines and scribbles. Moreover, she also likes to see story books, mom's cooking books and cartoon books. Recently she has started watching " Watch and Learn" Her favorites on this channel are The Wiggles(as always), Barney, Small Potatoes, Ming the Mini Bus(She too does watch on the local channel during the weekends) and Dora. While watching Barney on the Shapes topic, she must have her drawing board or a sketch book so that she can draw the shapes and others that interests her.

I must always wear the hat
Music, she cannot resist dancing whenever it is being played. She sways her body according to the musical tunes being played. She mixes various songs that she knows and makes her own song. She is very creative and shows her creativity by: for instance she holds a remote control and talks as if talking on the mic. She folds the towel and pretends to treat it an ice-cream and imitates as if she is licking it. And says " So yummy, ice-cream" She drapes a towel around her and acts like a princess wearing a long gown.

We talk in English with her. Nonetheless, she has grasped some Nepali words such as:
मेरो मुटू ममि
हापु खाने
कोक्, पानि, जुस खाने
दिदि, दादा माटो खे्ल्यो
ममि, पापा बत्ति बाल्नुस
पानि पर्यो

She has shown enthusiasm on learning. In fact she can instantly copy when she hears others talking.

A few Cantonese words:
Hum Kai sai
Liko
Fangyou
Hum Takka
Sap maan

Her memory is quite sharp, remembers the ads on the TV when she watches after some time. She knows where she has kept her things and does caricatures.

Mama's friend
Any time of the day, she MUST wear her hat and she too INSIST us to wear. In the morning, when she gets up, the first thing she finds is her hat and mom's. IF she cannot allocate them, then she is surely to create a scene. So they must always be to my or her reach.
- In the morning, she wakes up, gathers all her toys, kisses them and says " Good morning! I miss you!"
- 6th February 2012, she blurted out, " baby already finished cookies"
- Every night when papa comes home, she expects something from him. She searches his bag and when he hands her something, she smiles widely and says, " Thank you, papa!" She indeed shows her gratitude towards others by thanking.
- She does not like mama talking with others on the phone. She needs to seek attention and when being barred from this she does something knowing that mama will stop talking and pay heed to her.
My playmates
- She has shown very stubbornness on something she wants. She Must get it.
- 12th Feb 2012, aged 2 years, 5 months and 7 days, she went to the park wearing her sport cap, when she saw an older kid wearing a woolen hat, she insisted coming home and wear her woolen hat. She said, " mama, wear home hat" After wearing her said hat, she forced mom to the park to join her other play mates.
- She can readily say long sentences. She can say difficult words like smelly, Obama, hiccups, etc. She says, " mama give you chocolate" which means mama give me chocolate. She thinks ME is YOU. It is often that we say, " mama give you chocolate, papa give you cookies"
3 musketeers
- Rachi was modelling and papa said, " Rachi, cat walk" what she did was, stopped modelling, and said, " Papa, give my cat." and she pretended to walk with the toy(imaginative cat) and we laughed head off.
- She tends to be someone else. Sometime she pretends to be a boy, didi, aunt or papa, mama and says, " I am papa. I am a boy" etc.
- If she is annoyed with our talking, she says, " NO TALKING PLEASE!"
- During the phone conversation, she talks and gestures to the other person.
- Sometime she does not share her food but most of the time she does.
- She knows mama has just wiped or moped the floor. She walks cautiously, avoid stepping on the wet surface and steps on the mat where she knows that 's a dry part.
- When she knows mama is upset or angry, she comes to mama, shakes her head(a sign of NO) and speaks, " Mama, don't upset, Mama, don't angry"
