9th March 2009 was the day for all Diktaele to reunite. After traveling for an hour and almost fainting in the cab (I get taxi n bus sickness) Milan daju, bhauju and myself reached to the spot at 2pm. As soon as getting off the cab, I sat on the grass and took a deep breath to make myself feel better before meeting other Diktaeli. After feeling better we headed to meet our relatives and friends. The first person that we met was Parvati didi. I happen not to meet her since 1997. She kind of look same to me, age-wise but seems like she has gained some kilos. Meeting her to me was like being in Nepal. She used to come to my place and even though my mum was her kaki, they were good friends. Seeing her bubbly nature, it reminded me of being in Nepal with my mum and my siblings.
We moved closer to the main spot where other were barbecuing, enjoying and talking with each other. Seeing the environment, I was quite thrilled. Being there was like being away from the pollutant and the crowded city - it was such a peaceful place surrounded my greenery. The rainfall from the other days have made the ground better. Being in the midst of the tall trees was so pleasurable. Gush of wind was humming us and it was sheer joy despite of temperature little below than that of Kowloon side. In no time, we were greeted and sat down for the meat that were ready to be eaten.
Slowly, more people came in - some people were complete strangers to me. But after being introduced with them, they were like your long lost friends and relatives. Most of them were from Diktael. I was introduced from my uncle side. As the people there know my uncle very well. Every time I was introduced, " She is Renu, Sita Ram's niece." oh god, why always my uncle's name? Why can't I be identified as just Renu, with having to related with my family members? I knew this was not possible, coz I was the foremost important was relation nor name. If my uncle had not been a famous person, I may not have been known among the group. They would just say, " She is Renu" that was all or Rabin's wife. But is was hard to tell them Rabin's wife, as many of them there hardly knew who Rabin was. So, the simplest way to get introduced was being called, " Sita Ram's vatijeyni." Then they know who I am only mentioning uncle's name. I was proud too as I was the niece of a well-known person in Diktael and other village. I jokingly said to Malik Ram daju, " Why can't I be introuduced just as Renu?" Then he gave me a very logical answer which I am not writing here. Everyone laughed and I did too.....heheheehehh
Later I came along to Subba daju who was indeed a very inspiring and encouraging type person. I was flabbergasted to learn that he had read my articles published in Khotang samaj. He encouraged me to write more and he also said that I write good and he was touched by when I described about my home village. He said, " Even though I did not understand every words you wrote, I figured it out by turning a dictionary. They were good. Keep writing!" I was glad to know from him. Sadly to learn that he was moving to UK for good on August 2009. Such a convincing spirit and a good person like him was going to be further from most of us. I will always remember what he had said and how he had inspired me. It was one of the best thing that happened by attending Tai Tam Country Park. I ate so much that I could barely walk.
Realizing it was getting late, we adieu everyone and left at 9pm. We had immensely enjoyable time. Even though it was tiring, I enjoyed a lot. Got home at 11:30 pm and straight up after a quick shower jumped to the bed.....then a short while later....started dreaming.......
