Around eleven months Rachida began cruising around holding bed, sofa, her meal table and anything that came along her way. On the park she was aided by the benches. At Twelve months we started encouraging our baby girl to walk with holding our hands. Slowly, day by day, she started on her own pace. In the begining she seemed bit hesitant, perhaps not having enough confidant, she feared that she would hold her hands even though she started walking and the fact that her legs were strong and could stand and walk properly. But then it took her a little while to have self-esteem before she could freely walk without support. A month later she became successful in her mission.
I was thrilled to see my little baby forwarding her steps towards her daddy who stood few inches away. The very first she made her attempt was in the uncle's house. We were there to celebrate Dashain,as we were busy playing cards, eating and talking. She was crusing here and there sometime with the help of the bed, wardrobe and sometime she would hug us cheerfully. Then something initiated her to make a move, perhaps the shelf she saw which was stocked with uncle's possessions, i.e body spary, aunt't nail varnish, facial creams, wallet, coins, tissues, toiletries and many small bits.
We both spouses were so happy that our eyes glimmered as they met. Uncle, Sabin dai, Jasu everyone showed their galdness and we all cheered and gave her rounds of applause. She smiled and was excited too.
Few weeks later she mastered walking. These days when we take her to the park, she does not stop nor rest. What she does is walk and walk and sometimes runs as well. She plays with the things that she is interested with and smiles most of the time. Sometime she walks to the strangers, holds their hands and starts walking with them as if she is very familiar with them. As she walks, she grunts, smiles, produces funny noises, screams, laughs, claps and sits on her littler red plastic stool. she loves that stool and does not forget that particular spot. IF she is holding our hands adn supposedly we are moving away, she let go our hands and what she does next is scurries to her Resting spot. It is the name that we have given/ She likes to hold dried fallen leaves. Whenever she picks up the leaves,we call her " Botanist" She stands up after picking up the leaf from the ground, spreading a wide smile on her face, she walks towards other kids to mingle.
We both feel proud that we are the parent of this adorable child who makes us happy all the time.
