Rachida's weaning

At 5 months and 2 weeks Rachida was officially weaned. We chose 7th Falgun, Democracy day and also auspicious day for paasni. She was given rice based milk cereal. She quiet enjoyed her first solid food day. She seemed quite uncomfortable in the dress that we bought for this particular event. Thus, as soon as we both spooned her cereal, we took off her clothes and eased her. We could see her eyes gleamed with a relief.

In the evening we invited few close friends and family in the cozy little Nepali restaurant. Initially she enjoyed being there, but once the people started coming she could not help herself crying. Also the place was unfamiliar to her and she is not used to seeing or being with many people. Perhaps it was " Stranger Anxiety" As she cried uncontrollably, I tried to feed her milk which was pumped and water, but she resisted. Carrying her and rocking her on the pram did not soothe her cry. The other insisted that I should feed her. So we took her in the room and fed her. Once she was on my lap and before I could pull my clothes off, she was ready for feeding. Oh god, I regretted for that. She was very hungry, tired and sleepy. She latched for 30 minutes and finally she was a jolly baby. Then she slept happily.
Entree
Sellroti, alu dum, pyaagi, vegetarian chow mien, chicken momo, tomatoes pickle.
Main
Pulao with chicken/pork curry, steamed vegetables and mula ko achar...
Achar was very delicious. The food was good and very cheap. The owner's wife had delivered the baby boy at 3:30 pm on that day. So it was a big day for him. We all congratulated him and we were delighted to see his face widened with smile.
After the bill was cleared we said goodbye to everyone and we headed to our home.
